Headwalls of Shame

One thing having decades of multidisciplined experience means...

We've seen some real headscratchers over the years and examined at great length the causations and solutions to all.  It's incredibly important to understand the additional load a project or series of new projects will project downstream and physically verify the condition of the MS4 or ecosystem your project is "outfalling" into, directly and indirectly.

Below are a few examples of what happens when designers, contractors, and/or operators get it disastrously wrong.....

"Out Follies" - Blown Outfall Designs and their Gullies

    Results of Inadequate Downstream Investigation

Ephemeral Creek overloaded and eroded by overdeveloped MS4 basin

Not understanding the real condition of the MS4 system your project is tying into, can create even bigger issues.  ..... like tying your new project into a system that is already overtaxed and blowing out into a massive gully.

Blown Outfall creates massive silt fan and impacts wetlands, basins, and stream.

Further downstream investigation before a number of new upland projects on this system, would have prevented impacts like this.

Outfall Reconnaissance turns up the worst environmental design fails.

Most of the mistakes we find are easily avoided!

    MS4 Overdevelopment and Overload

Another undersized outfall in an outdated MS4 resulting in another massive gully and impaired Wetlands and Waters of the State.
